How It Works

The Cornell method splits a page into three zones so notes stay organized and easy to revise. Capture detail in the wide notes area during class, then afterwards distil the key ideas into short cues and questions on the left, and finish with a one- or two-sentence summary at the bottom. Reviewing later, you cover the notes and use the cues to quiz yourself.

The three zones
  • Cues / Questions: the narrow left column for keywords, prompts and questions that trigger recall.
  • Notes: the wide right column for the main content you record while learning.
  • Summary: the bottom box where you condense the page into your own words.
Markdown support

Type Markdown in any zone and toggle the preview to see it formatted. Supported syntax includes:

  • # Heading, ## Subheading
  • **bold**, *italic*, `code`
  • - list item and indented sub-items
  • > quote and [link](https://example.com)
Auto-save and printing

Every keystroke saves to your browser's localStorage under the selected note, so nothing is sent to a server and your notes stay private on your device. Add as many notes as you like and switch between them from the dropdown. The Print button lays the sheet out on paper with the classic two-column grid and summary bar; use your browser's "Save as PDF" option to export a copy.

Tip: Notes save the moment you stop typing; there is no save button to remember. Clearing site data will remove them, so download a .md copy for anything important.
